I’ve made a stop-motion short film that depicts anxious asylum seekers, angry activists and obedient case handlers, all stuck in the red tape of the migration agency. In a cardboard world, the characters move like puppets, controlled by a social structure that allocates them specific roles.

This work manages to convey something difficult and important in a natural, communicative manner. It makes full use of the medium’s limitations and opportunities, and a strong narrative and artisanal/artistic skill make the technique of puppetry a character in the story.
